I have a new goal: Learn how to speak Italian. Since July 27th I’ve dove headfirst by means of undergoing three private tutoring lessons over video chat with tutors based in Italy. In addition to that I’ve purchased more than eight books on the language and have extended my Duolingo streak to eight days. After taking a second to step back and think, I realized this decision has been percolating inside me for quite some time. Over the past few years, I’ve been collecting more books of Sicilian and Italian history than I care to mention here. Fun fact, there’s three books in the Italian language in our library (Il Grande Gatsby di F. Scott Fitzgerald, Tutti I racconti del mistero, dell’incubo e del terrore di Edgar Allen Poe, and—you guessed it—Il Nomme della Rosa di Umberto Eco). In essence, I’m making up for lost time.
