Haha! Seething about apostrophes is kind of silly, right?
It is nice to have the photos. I'm not much of a picture-taker, either (I hate posing for them), but what convinced me to get the album was family. We wouldn't have gotten away with not having a wedding photographer (or a wedding, for that matter), and in the months before my wedding, I managed to stumble on my mom's wedding album and my grandparents' wedding album. I enjoyed seeing them, so I figured that if we're lucky enough to have a kid who's in that same position, they'd probably enjoy them, too.
I audibly groaned at: “I actually think it looks better with the apostrophe.”
Yes, language evolves from generation to generation. The way I speak and write is completely different from how my grandparents might have done, and even further removed from their grandparents.
I'll even allow for flexibility in what should be capitalised and sentence case and how certain things are spelt. I even don't have a strong opinion on the Oxford comma (though I prefer not to use it personally).
But changing grammar for aesthetic reasons? That's where I draw the line.
(Goodness, this got me more riled than I imagined! Thanks for the story!)
True. Most people don't care. But I don't care about how something is welded together. I still see it as being important to how a structure is held together. Maybe that's a bit extreme, but there needs to be some method to the madness of modern language!
My statement stands.
Irregardless The Mistrettas' wouldn't look bad. ;-)
Haha!
«Aberran't Apostrophe's» would make a great punk rock band. :)
Haha!!
Intellectuals bitching about punctuation! I do regret not taking photos of important events in my life decades ago.

Thanks for reading, Michael!

Haha! I agree that grammar should not be compromised for aesthetic reasons (and I think we should leave spelling and capitalization alone, too!).
Then again, I’ve always been a “grammar nazi,” and clearly, most people either really care or don’t care at all.
I wish I had a grammar Nazi for a teacher!

Wow, I must be in trouble then as I'm the worst with grammar, spelling and punctuation!
(Did you accidentally type 'without' rather than 'with' in relaying your husband's comment?)
I did! Ironic, given the subject. Thanks, haha.
