Michael Crichton was always my favorite airport-thriller writer. I read every single one of his books while flying, Lol. I can say this about him. His exploration seemed to hit a lot of international nerves. I can't recall which of his books the topic of patenting DNA was discussed, but I remember it was in one of his latest books before he died, and touched on this futurist controversial subject. Can a government own your DNA? Maybe the book was Timeline? I have an autographed copy of his book.

I looked it up, and I think you're talking about the book Next. Neither of us has read it, but there's a copy on our shelf.

He's a good airport thriller writer for sure. I've read Jurassic Park and now half of Timeline, (and watched Westworld and Twister—I can't believe he wrote those movies!) & am impressed by how he can pack in some thought-provoking concepts while still being fun enough to read anywhere.

. If, instead of being killed, your atoms were mapped and then reproduced elsewhere, there would be two yous. They would rapidly diverge as each you had different experiences and created new memories.

And to think that the Star Trek “beam” all happened because a model shop didn’t have the shuttles ready in time for an episode’s deadline.

Lots of Clones and Robots done by the Psychotic/Predator/Parasites in charge, just watch the Newscasters, Hollywood and many politicians.

What if we “clone” you by just assembling an exact duplicate?

And what if that exact duplicate is missing something, let’s call it a “soul”, that we couldn’t detect in the ingredients. So it’s an exact living copy of the human except absolutely evil because there is no soul?

Could s/he hide their evil? Would they be detected and defeated right away, or would they hide until the most opportune moment to take control?
