John, your writings make me feel good about getting out of the city and feel for the people still putting up with it, which is likely worse now. From Elizabeth/Newark NJ and with 4 days a week selling in NYC worst neighborhoods (auto parts) my first getaway was to get the family to the NJ Mountains even though I had about a 3 hour total commute per day. Them moved on from that and Vermont was the best place I ever lived.
Like anything, there’s good and bad things about being here. I would definitely like an escape one day, but for now there always seems to be something keeping me here.
Due to my compromised eyesight, I 'read' your story with Substack's wonderful text-to-speech feature. I close my eyes and take in the suspense, the way you pull the protagonist in and out of his stream of thought, jumping from one scene to another, the description in detail of the soundings but never tedious, the mysterious direction the story is heading - it is all so very real.
You have a magical gift. Your writing is like a seven course dinner, tasting one succulent dish to another, unable to dine on just one delicious entree, you keep the reader savoring every bite as they go from one sapient offering to the next in a circular motion, but never dizzying. A reader starved for substance comes back for more.
Yeah I'm hooked, but good! I presently do not have the wherewithal to support your work, I feel like a freeloader by consuming such rich content for free, so I will begin restacking as soon as I start from the beginning to find those linguistic treats to share as a way to give back. One day when my circumstances improve I can offer remuneration for your work.
Your kind words are worth more to me than anything else you could give! I sincerely appreciate your enjoyment of the book. Hearing this definitely inspires me to continue my work. Thank you so much, Dave.
I live in my escape out in the country! Three more excellent chapters John! I’m playing catch up again, Lol! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3gGn6t8Bog
Great song! Thanks for reading and all the support. We were just in the country last week, and I already need to get back 😂
The end of this, when the veil is lifted, is so powerful, it shook Will and it shook me, too. Thank you so much for this, it’s thrilling.
This means a lot. Thank you!!!
You are quite welcome!
